Privacy Policy - Prompt Rewriter

What data we collect

When you click the "Rewrite" button, the text you typed in the chat input field is sent to our API server for processing. We also receive rewrite preferences, the supported AI site name, anonymous client identifiers, session/request metadata for quota enforcement, IP-derived rate limit data, and basic extension events such as install, update, rewrite success, rewrite failure, upgrade click, and limit reached.

If you purchase Pro, Stripe provides subscription details to our backend. We generate a one-time activation code and send it to the checkout email using Resend. When you enter the activation code in the extension, we store the anonymous client identifier associated with that activation, along with Stripe customer ID, Stripe subscription ID, plan/price ID, subscription status, and renewal period end so the extension can unlock Pro access and enforce fair-use limits.

How we use your data

Your prompt text is sent to OpenAI's configured model, currently GPT-4.1 by default, to generate an improved version. The rewritten text is returned to your browser immediately. We do not store, log, or retain your prompts or the rewritten results as part of normal rewrite generation.

Feedback

If you choose Good or Bad feedback, we store the rating, optional written reason, rewrite preferences, product metadata, anonymous client identifier, and prompt/rewrite length. We do not store the full prompt text or full rewritten text with feedback by default.

Data we do NOT collect

Local storage

The extension stores settings locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API, including the on/off toggle state, API URL migration state, rewrite preferences, anonymous client identifier, Pro activation state, and recent privacy-safe feedback metadata. The extension does not need to store your checkout email for Pro activation.

Third-party services

We use OpenAI's API to process prompts. OpenAI's privacy policy applies to data sent through their API: https://openai.com/privacy

We use Stripe to process Pro subscription payments and verify entitlement status. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data processed by Stripe: https://stripe.com/privacy

We use Resend to send Pro activation emails. Resend processes the checkout email only for transactional email delivery related to activation codes.

Limited use

We use extension data only to provide and improve Prompt Rewriter, enforce quotas, verify Pro access, provide support, and maintain security. We do not sell extension data, use it for personalized advertising, or transfer it to data brokers. Our use of extension data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
